2024 Annual Meeting Minutes

2024 Annual meeting minutes; January 16, 2024

attendees: in person: Charles Lehman, Danielle Blank, Kevin Flispart, Sam Flispart, Gary Flispart, Bill Schwab, Francisco Cordona, Paul Bellou, Tiffany Haynie, Andy Mahoney, David Greenstone, Matt DeBien, Pete Robertson, James <last name unknown> (first-time attendee, from Cali), maybe more attendees zoom: Raj Shah, Jim Dallam, Adam Thomas.

meeting commenced 8:35 pm

- Motion to approve 2023 meeting minutes: moved by Charles, seconded by Tiffany; all yeas, no nays.

- Discussed workshops and hackathons we did this year. Kevin Price did some microcontroller earlier this year, we had Open S-Cad, Christmas laser acrylic ornament workshop, Christmas hackathon and party. Hope to continue to have plenty of workshops in 2024. Adam will be setting up a photography workshop of some variety early this year.

- K.B. Lawsuit against LVL1. The lawsuit was dismissed this year, with prejudice. He filed a second time, and it was dismissed on the same day. We didn’t spend any money on attorney’s fees or damages.

- 2023 Projects. Discussed some cool projects that happened this year: Gary and Jim’s electronic banjos project and various musical projects; the Cin-d-Lou robot project.

- Jewelry Station. This area had become very messy due to no curator for over a year, so Adam has transformed it into a modeling and light painting area. NO spray painting is to happen here. Adam has ideas for improving the area, such as paint racks, and Matt DeBien began 3D printing those tonight!

- Bunker Wiring FAP. There were some iffy outlets in the bunker so a wiring FAP happened, and some outlets in the wood and metal shops were rewired this year, reducing chances of a fire due to subpar wiring.

- Member Communication. Discord and Slack – Andy Mahoney started a Discord for LVL1 and has approximately 70 members on it. Jim Dallam started a Slack for LVL1 this year and hopefully it will be a good way for members to communicate, as well. There is some concern regarding the fact that a lot of messages from the Google Group members’ list are going to people’s spam folders.

- Table Saw. We fixed it twice this year. As a reminder, it will not turn on unless its dust collection is turned on. It is not broken if it doesn’t come on; just turn on the dust collection first.

- PPE. In the process of being moved to a better location out of the woodshop so it’s not all covered in dust. There is still more PPE which needs to be cleaned and moved to the new location.

- Maker Faire Louisville. There were several people and several cool projects at the LVL1 booth at Maker Faire this year, generating interest from the community.

- Hack Night at the Museum. Another cool outreach night, Andy Miller set this one up for us. LVL1 put on a good show, and we had good fun. Seemed to generate a lot of community interest there, too.

- Makerships. Several makership scholarships were given this year. Some people got to try out being a member, a couple became members, one became a board member tonight.

- Couch FAP. We did a FAP for a new couch this year, Kevin Flispart spearheaded this one. Value City Furniture delivered and installed it. Very comfy couch, getting much use.

- Elections. Everyone and everything passed. 20 electronic ballots submitted; 3 paper ballots tonight. Quorum at this time is 20, and we have 23 votes. - Kevin Flispart, President; Danielle Blank, Vice-President; Jim Dallam, Treasurer; Tiffany Haynie, Secretary. - Raj Shah, Charles Lehman and Adam Thomas, Directors at Large. - The “shoestring budget” is our 2024 budget. - All four bylaw amendments passed: member management tasks assigned to VP; reimbursement max raised to $150/monthly $600; what insurances are required per the budget; and the potential to raise dues at some point this year was approved.

- Thank you to everyone who was on the budget committee and to everyone who worked on the bylaw changes.

Meeting adjourned 8:50pm
