DSC Security System
Overview
Most of mothers security related devices are connected to the DSC 1832 Alarm system. The DSC system is a commercial grade alarm system that can perform all security monitoring related task as a stand-a-lone system. Having the security system operated as a "Hybrid-Integration" ensures that the space is able to be "secure" at all times, regardless of any system malfuctions from other connected devices. Various motion, door, glassbreak, and general contact sensors are located throughout the LVL1 space and are connected directly to the DSC 1832 panel.
Mother Connectivity
The DSC system is connected to mother via an "IT100" serial module. The module connects to the DSC panels "Keypad Bus" and allows two way communication between Mother and the Panel. Any changes to sensors, zone states, or other panel actions are immediately sent to mother over this serial link. Mother can also use this serial link to arm, disarm, trigger alarms, or initiate any other functions of the DSC panel.
Sensor Connections
The DSC 1832 main panel can monitor eight zones. The number of monitored zones can be increased by connecting a DSC-5108 Zone expansion module to the panels keypad bus. 12V aux power is provided by the board to power sensors. All sensors connected to the panel should consist of a N/C dry relay. The panel measures the resistance of a sensors relay to determine the state of the sensor.
Expansion Modules
All expansion modules including the IT-100 and the DSC-5108 connect to the panel on the keypad bus. Each module is individually addressed by means of various jumper configurations. Each module must have it's own address.
