Welcome
Welcome to LVL1! Louisville's Premier Hackerspace
Shoutouts
- RedBull is back! Enjoy one per visit and if asked, I did not enable anyone's addiction.
- Tim is hosting an upcoming workshop to share some skills with anyone interested to visit firstBuild
- Kevin1 walked some campuses today to begin conversations with universities regarding the best ways for us to connect and reach students
Announcements
- Gameplan to begin purchasing grant items - remaining considerations for installing wood & metal shop toys, ventilation, guidelines, finalize 3d printer discussion.
- After some positive discussion of alternative bids, I am opting to save these options for future spending as I believe the guidelines of the grant are to pursue original listings and these items will still have a positive impact.
- Reimbursement forms due Oct.30
- mailing list activity regarding stain glass station - choose a slice in the metal shop to grind and potentially a space in the classroom
- I have kicked off another round of grant writing with Helen championing an opportunity with Walmart - please start a discussion about what types of items are best suited and what items folks are interested to bring into the space.
- Makerfaire is not too far away (I'm just guessing) but think it will be in October (usually second or third weekend)
- what projects can we begin/ revive and bring to show off this year - in search of collective and awesome individual projects
The Tim VanSant Makership: LVL1's Makership Program
- New members pitch a project to be awarded 3 months free and up to $100 of project cost reimbursements!
- Apply at https://lvl1.org/makership/ and apply via makership@lvl1.org by the last day of the month for each round
- This program is funded completely through donations(NOT regular member dues) to reduce the friction of creating exciting projects for new members
- Send any questions about how to submit a successful application to https://lvl1.org/makership/.
Broken/Equipment Report
- Learn as much as you can, ask questions and find out the best practices to keep our available equipment in service.
- If something is broken or needs to be replaced, please send an email to broken@lvl1.org.
- Please supply as much information as possible; links to websites or items are GREATLY appreciated. Consumables can be time-consuming to find; broken is not a mind reader!
Currently Broken
- CR-10 large 3D printer
- loss of the last paper towel
Golden Rules
- Don't be a d*ck (review the literature if needed)
- Share the space and be considerate of others
- This means picking up after yourself, considering the space you use and for how long, perform work in appropriate areas,
- Nothing ever happens - but you can fix that - if you want something to improve, consider how you can make it happen and how it can benefit our shared community
Quests
- New 3D printers area has been consistently improving - let's maintain ease of use for everyone keep tidy - would like to clarify the plans for this area
- Slapping up stickers and flyers around town - make LVL1 a curious and alluring name. Develop and document the procedure to print and cut stickers at LVL1 (plotter -> graphtec)
- Red Bull is back to quench the summer heat. One for you leaves some for all. I am interested to continue working with them, developing potential hackathons later this year - bring me your ideas that they may be interested to support.
