Hacker House project goals are to:

  • Educate LVL1 community and general public on topics including
    • Home maintenance & home repair
    • Reliable/robust construction techniques
    • Safe power tool usage & training
    • Eco-friendly utility alternatives
    • Software modeling (CAD)
  • Stimulate interest in STEM fields through workshops hosted at display sites
  • And, of course, build the most awesome, jaw-dropping, impressive tiny house a hackerspace can make

  • Woodworking
    • Framing walls, floors, roof
  • Electrical
    • Solar panel installation
    • Wiring guidelines & safety
  • Plumbing/utility
  • CAD
    • SketchUp or AutoCAD
  • Home Automation / Monitoring

Funding

Fundraising needs to be done on multiple fronts including

  • Grants to purchase raw materials
    • Gheens Foundation
    • Others?
  • Soliciting donations from corporate sponsors
    • GE Mini Kitchen
    • Solar panel folks down the street
    • Trailer?
  • Crowd Funding

  • Not boot strapping
