Usage/Safety

• General safety instructions for power tools (from this machine's manual)
  • 01. Know your power tool (read and understand the owner's manual before using and understand the specific hazards)
  • 02. Ground all tools (use grounded 3-prong plug inserted into proper grounding type receptacle)
  • 03. Keep guards in place (and in working order with proper adjustment and alignment)
  • 04. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches (form habit to check they are removed from tool before turning on the machine)
  • 05. Keep work area clean (cluttered areas and benches invite accidents and floor may be slippery due to sawdust)
  • 06. Avoid dangerous environment (don't use power tools in damp or wet locations, keep work area well lighted)
  • 07. Keep children away (all visitors should be kept at a safe distance)
  • 08. Make workshop kid-proof (consider padlocks, master switches and/or starter keys)
  • 09. Dont force tool (it will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed)
  • 10. Use right tool (don't force the tool or attachment to do a job it was not designed for)
  • 11. Wear proper apparel (don't wear loose clothing, gloves, neckties, or jewelry, contain long hair, roll-up sleeves above the elbow)
  • 12. Use safety goggles (must comply with ANSI Z87.1, use face or dust mask and ear protection during extended periods of usage)
  • 13. Secure work (use clamps or a vice to hold work when practical as it is safer than using your hand)
  • 14. Don't overreach (keep proper footing and balance at all times)
  • 15. Maintain tools with care (keep tools sharp and clean for best and safest performance)
  • 16. Disconnect tools (before servicing when changing accessories, belts, and disks)
  • 17. Avoid accidental starting (make sure switch in in "OFF" position before plugging in)
  • 18. Use recommended accessories (consult the manual for recommended accessories, follow instructions, improper accessories may cause hazards)
  • 19. Never stand on tool (seriousl injury could occur if the tool is tipped or if the cutting tool is accidentally contacted)
  • 20. Check damaged parts (a damaged guard should be checked for proper function, check alignment of moving parts, binding, breakage, etc.)
  • 21. Direction of feed (feed work into a blade or cutter against the direction of rotation of the blade or cutter only)
  • 22. Never leave tool running unattended (turn power off and don't leave the tool until it comes to a complete stop)

• MIND THE GAP between the table/steady_rest and the rotating sandpaper belt/disk. Have a safe hand and arm exit strategy should the belt pull your stock into the gap.

• Always wear safety glasses. If you haven’t used this sander before, make practice cuts on scrap softwood stock and then try hardwood scraps.

- 9" dia. sanding disk
