Volunteers

General Roles

  • Go to guys - we need people to take charge of booths! These people will be responsible for coordinating their little corner of the event. They will need to track down hardware, make sure the software is configured before the event and get together table decorations and cheat sheets. They don't need to be at their booth the entire time, but should be in the general vicinity to watch the hardware and answer questions.
  • Grunts - people who can just show up and help setup tables, etc.
  • Creators - people who can help create table decorations, cheat sheets, and software setups.

Specialty Roles

  • Food - I need someone to take charge of the food/refreshments.
  • Windows DVD - I think it would be neat to hand out a DVD with some good open source software for Windows and include a custom auto-launched web interface that would describe what everything does.
  • Aaron (redwagon) mentioned during the 8/31 meeting that he needs advertising for the event - I attended a women in tech networking event tonight (9/1) and met two women who work in PR who are very interested in LVL1 and are interested in helping us advertise (in general, for projects, and also for events such as Software Freedom day). I'm going to follow-up tomorrow and find out more details on what info they need to make this happen. I'm also going to send the info on the event to local bloggers (including consuminglouisville.com who will definitely post about it). --Grace
