Old Business:
 +
* Lock-a-Doc wants the RFID fixed on the soda machine. If we can’t get it figured out by May, Doc things we should get a credit-card reader for the vending machine.  Jim will reach out to Bill S and talk to him and try to find out – and Kevin P was maybe going to look into the wiring of the RFID. Kevin learned that it would be a difficult process to get that RFID, more difficult than newer machines or older machines. It’s possible, but there would have to be a microcontroller between the RFID reader and the circuit board, and the microcontroller would have to mimic pressing of certain buttons. If we DO buy a credit card reader then we have to be sure that it interfaces with the board, because our board is just old enough to not be easy to work with.
 +
* The DIY would require a microcontroller and cutting wires and splicing to make it work.
 +
OR we could buy a new control board for the vending machine and make either the RFID easier to work with.
 +
* The more people buy sodas, the sooner we can get a new control board.
 +
 +
* Lawyer Stuff / Wavier – Raj is looking into the waiver revamped. Raj has had some life happening and had to back-burner this project. Tiffany cannot follow-up with the lawyer she was going to speak with because he is having health issues.
 +
 +
* Matt has posted the Makerbot and Biqus for sale and has not received any real interest in selling these machines.  If they don’t sell, one of the Biqus can be made to work again by cannibalizing the others.
 +
 +
* Planer Replacement – It would be an expensive replacement, but space to run it is the bigger issue. It’s now coming into question whether we really need to replace the planer. Do we want to go with a smaller one, or do we shelf this for a while? Now the air compressor might need replaced and that will take priority. Table planer discussion, as it’s more of a “want” than a “need” at this time.
 +
 +
* Doc did mounts the cameras in Wood Shop. He wants to mount the monitor TV at the front of the room next to the big TV so we can see it.
 +
 +
* Food on Tuesdays has been a success. The pizza fund is cash-positive. Tif will pick up Pizza at Costco even though she’s foot injured. Pizza, paper towels and coffee pods. And sodas from Kroger.
 +
 +
* Adam discussed the mural idea with Kevin C. and we still don’t have a plan.  Carry forward.
 +
 +
* Adam has ideas regarding promotional materials. Sticker Mural is a website he uses for stickers. Maybe we could use that for Swag. Discussed idea for goodie bag for new members. Discussed Doc’s laser-cut keychain, and using colored acrylic from which to cut them. Discussed the possibility of forging our aluminum cans into challenge coins or trinkets for the goodie bags and to hand out. Discussed that the ZenBot could be used to CNC engrave little metal tags.
 +
 +
* Repair Faire went pretty well. College kids are a fun group to be curious with and is definitely an avenue that LVL1 could explore. Also, connecting with Louisville Time Bank – Danielle will acquire contact info for people who repair antique sewing machines and do work for non-profits.
 +
 +
* Library – We need to follow up with them. Kevin P has been the main point of contact with them. We have a couple of workshop ideas for doing at the library planned, but not scheduled out yet. And there is a special training to take before facilitating workshops for children. Library is all about free access and creative exploration. Danielle will check with Kevin to find out what the two dates are with which we are on their calendar, TinkerCad and soldering.

LVL1's current one-year $10K Certificate-of-Deposit will expire in May.  Implementation of the discussed intent to switch to laddering one-year $2.5k CD's on a monthly basis has been determined to be impractical to implement at Republic Bank.  A more practical alternative (to open an FDIC-insured business savings account that will earn 4 to 5% interest at another bank) will be proposed for discussion in today's O&D meeting.

Starting $2,500 laddered CDs is somewhat problematic. There is an alternative, a business savings account. It’s FDIC insured for any amount after the minimum. Republic doesn’t offer one, but there are several national banks that offer 4 or 5% on a business savings account. Jim will gather information and write a proposal to present to membership on Tuesday, and then the board will make a decision on investment either at or before the next board meeting.

* Air Compressor – there has been discussion open for about a week.  We need to run a FAP for a new one. We should acquire one that is equal to or better than the current one we have. At Tuesday nights’ meeting, we’ll discuss a FAP for a replacement air compressor.

Membership Report:

  • 79 dues-paying members in good standing for March, 2 of which are makerships.

Treasurer Report: March was cash positive by a small margin. Revenue (at $4,332.00) exceeded Expense (at $3,956.25) for a gain of ($375.75). Here are the two March 2024 financial reports:

I am sorting out intended improvements in the reporting of cumulative Year-To-Date performance and reporting of designated fund transactions (TVS Makerships, Pizza/Potluck, Vending, FAP, CDs, etc.) in the coming months, using current methods before moving to Quickbooks Online software.

• Vince did send a text regarding a condensation problem near the 3D printers. It’s temporarily being captured but we need to have someone look at it. Kevin will send a message to the members’ list regarding this problem and see if anybody has a guy.
  • Air Compressor – there has been discussion open for about a week. We need to run a FAP for a new one. We should acquire one that is equal to or better than the current one we have. At Tuesday nights’ meeting, we’ll discuss a FAP for a replacement air compressor.
  • Since we are going to be voting, there is an email issue that needs to be discussed. Kevin is not receiving certain emails for a couple of days after they are being sent. This is a problem.
